Ramblings and Rumblings..

Wednesday 3.13.19 with Jimbo Mathus and Lynn Drury

This week in Nolamericana!  Jimbo Mathus first had his fame with his band the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and has gone on to perform in many projects such as Knockdown South and Tri-State Coilition.  He remains one of my all time favorite performers and songwriters and he has recently moved to the Big Easy!  Now we can all enjoy him and his music.  Currently playing Spotted Cat with the Little Big Horns, among other projects, he's a fabulous producer to boot.  I'm very excited to have him this week for my Nolamericana songwriter series at Loa Bar inside the International House Hotel.  6pm-8pm.  Be there!!

Lynn Celebrates 20 Years with Loa Series

Singer-Songwriter Lynn Drury Celebrates 20 Years with NOLAmericana Songwriter Series

Loa, International House Hotel’s bar, presents, “Lynn Drury Celebrates 20 Years of Making Music in New Orleans.” Set to inviting velvets and the flickering glow of candlelight, Drury’s NOLAmericana songwriter series happens weekly in Loa, beginning January 16th.

In recent years, Loa has hosted Echoes From Laurel Canyon, an acoustic series and tribute to that fabled bohemian enclave and its era-defining songwriters who fueled the fertile California music scene and made famous some of the most well-known musicians and songwriters of the 1960’s and 70’s.

In that spirit, the exceptionally creative climate of New Orleans today has conjured a burgeoning roster of newcomers and veteran troubadours playing off each other’s licks and lyrics in our own bohemian port town. And, with 20 years and 8 albums under her belt, Lynn invites some of her gifted friends and fellow songsmiths to the party at Loa, Wednesday nights, 6 -8 PM.

Special guests already include:

Jan 16 - Shawn Williams
Jan 23 - Arséne Delay
Jan 30 - Jamey St. Pierre & Alex Mallet
Feb 06 - Susan Cowsill
Feb 13 - Carolyn Broussard
Feb 20 - Ted Hefko
Feb 27 - Mia Borders

Come hear the songs and stories of New Orleans’ best songwriters and players, united and unfiltered!. Free and open to the public, the thirsty can refresh themselves with those famed elixirs offered by Alan Walter and his staff.
